Privacy Notice
Last updated: September 15, 2026
1. Who runs this site
Whimbyte (whimbyte.com) is an independent, non-commercial review page about free wolf games on Google Play. It is run by a private individual, Tahlia Briggs, not a company. Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), Tahlia Briggs is the entity responsible for how information described in this notice is handled.
Postal address: 146 Mason St, Newport VIC 3015, Australia. Phone: +61 3 9391 6394. Email: hi@whimbyte.com.
2. What this site actually collects
Whimbyte has no account system, no comment section, no newsletter sign-up and no contact form. There is no field on this site where you are asked to type in personal information. The only information handled in connection with this site falls into two categories:
a) Technical data collected automatically by hosting and content delivery. Like any website, requests to load a page on whimbyte.com pass through our hosting provider and Cloudflare, our content delivery network (CDN). This can include your IP address, browser type, device type, the page requested, and referring URL — standard web server log information, processed for the purpose of delivering the page to you securely and reliably. We do not receive a report tying this information to an individual, and we do not combine it with anything else.
b) A single local browser preference. When you click Accept or Decline on the cookie notice banner, your choice is written to your browser's local storage under one key, on your own device. This is not sent to us and is not personal information we hold — see our Cookie Notice for the exact key name.
c) Email you send us. If you email hi@whimbyte.com directly, we receive whatever you choose to include — typically your email address and the content of your message. This is handled by your own email provider and ours, not by any script on this website.
3. Purpose and legal basis
Technical data from hosting and Cloudflare is processed for the legitimate purpose of operating and securing the website — there is no marketing or profiling use. Email you send us is used solely to read and, where appropriate, reply to your message. We do not use any information described in this notice to make automated decisions about you, and no profile is built from your visits.
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, an APP entity should only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for its functions. Because this site's only function toward a visitor is to display published review content, we have deliberately built it so that no personal information collection is reasonably necessary in the first place — which is why there is no account system, no form and no tracking pixel anywhere on whimbyte.com.
4. Cloudflare and cross-border processing
Cloudflare, our CDN provider, operates a global network and may process the technical data described above outside Australia as part of delivering this site quickly and securely. Cloudflare's own privacy practices govern that processing; we do not separately export any personal information to Cloudflare beyond what is inherent in serving a web page through a CDN. No other overseas recipient receives information in connection with this site — there is no advertising network, no analytics vendor and no email marketing platform in the chain.
5. Sensitive information
This site does not ask for, and has no mechanism to collect, sensitive information as defined by the Privacy Act (health, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, criminal record, and similar categories). If a message you send us happens to include sensitive information you chose to share, it is treated with the same care as any other email and is not used for any purpose beyond responding to you.
6. Retention
We do not maintain our own server logs or analytics database for this site. Any technical log data retained by our hosting provider or Cloudflare is kept only as long as needed for security and operational purposes, under their respective retention practices. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to address your enquiry, then deleted or archived at our discretion. We do not keep a running mailing list, and there is nothing to unsubscribe from.
7. Your rights under the Privacy Act
Because this site does not hold an ongoing personal information record on visitors (no accounts, no database of user data), most Australian Privacy Principle rights of access and correction have little practical application here. If you have emailed us and want to know what we hold, ask to have it corrected, or ask to have it deleted, contact hi@whimbyte.com and we will respond. Because there is no account or stored profile tied to your identity, most requests can be actioned simply by deleting the relevant email thread on our side, and we will confirm once that is done.
8. Complaints
If you believe this site has mishandled personal information, you can contact us directly first at the address above — as a one-person project, most concerns can be looked at and resolved quickly this way. You may also lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC): GPO Box 5218, Sydney NSW 2001, Australia — oaic.gov.au. The OAIC generally expects you to raise a concern with the entity first, which is why we ask the same.
9. Children
This site is a general-audience game review page and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. There is no sign-up mechanism through which a child (or anyone) could submit personal data to us directly, and the review content itself is age-neutral commentary on mobile games.
10. Security
The site is served over HTTPS and delivered through Cloudflare's network, which provides standard transport security and protection against common abuse such as bot traffic and denial-of-service attempts. As there is no database of visitor personal information on our side, the main security surface is the hosting and CDN layer described above, not an application we operate ourselves.
11. Links to other sites
Some pages link to Google Play listings, developer pages, or the OAIC's own website. Those destinations are outside our control and are covered by their own privacy practices, not this notice. We encourage checking the privacy policy of any site you reach by following a link from here.
12. Changes to this notice
If how this site handles information changes, this notice will be updated and the date at the top of this page will change accordingly. We do not backdate or predate updates, and we do not make retroactive changes that would reduce protection for information already handled under an earlier version of this notice.
