Cookie Notice
Last updated: September 15, 2026
1. The short version
Whimbyte does not set its own analytics or advertising cookies. The only thing this site's own code stores in your browser is a single preference remembering whether you clicked Accept or Decline on the cookie notice banner.
2. What is actually stored
| Name | Category | Purpose | Duration | Set by |
|---|---|---|---|---|
wbx-consent | Preference (localStorage, not a cookie) | Remembers whether you accepted or declined the cookie notice, so it is not shown again on later visits | Until you clear site data | Whimbyte (first party) |
This value lives in your browser's local storage, not as an HTTP cookie, and is never transmitted to our server — it only controls whether the banner shows again in your own browser.
3. Why the banner still shows up
Even though this site does not set tracking cookies, we show a short notice on your first visit so you know that up front rather than having to go looking for this page. Clicking Accept or Decline does not change what the site does technically — both choices lead to exactly the same experience — it only records that you have seen the notice, so it stops appearing on later visits.
4. Cloudflare
This site is delivered through Cloudflare, our content delivery network. Cloudflare may set its own technical cookies or use a lightweight performance-monitoring script as part of operating its network and, where enabled, its Web Analytics feature. Any such script does not use cookies and does not track you across other websites; it reports aggregate performance metrics (page load times, error rates) back to Cloudflare. See Cloudflare's own documentation for details of what it processes as our infrastructure provider. We do not configure Cloudflare to build advertising profiles, and no ad network receives data from this site through Cloudflare.
5. What we do not use
No advertising cookies, no third-party trackers, no cross-site pixels, and no fingerprinting scripts are used on this site. We do not run Google Analytics or any similar service, we do not embed social-media "like" or "share" widgets that carry their own tracking, and we do not use session-replay tools. If that ever changes, this page will change first, and the reason will be explained here rather than buried in a policy update nobody reads.
6. Browser and device settings
Because Whimbyte only ever writes the single wbx-consent preference described above, most browser-level cookie or tracking-protection settings have nothing to do here — there is nothing else for them to block. If you browse with local storage disabled entirely, the only visible effect on this site is that the cookie notice banner will reappear on every visit, since your browser will not let it remember your earlier choice.
7. Managing your choice
You can change your mind at any time by clearing your browser's site data for whimbyte.com, which will remove the wbx-consent key and show the notice again on your next visit. There is no server-side record of your choice to update or delete on our end, because the value never leaves your browser.
8. More information
